Over 100 years of people and property

Roger Bright and his mother took over the established business of Frank Day & Co in 1952 and renamed the firm Bright & Bright. The history of Frank Day & Co can be traced back to just before the First World War with the firm moving to the present offices in Victoria Road in 1937. Roger was very instrumental in saving what is now Deal Conservation area from redevelopment in the 1960's. Today the town boasts one of the finest Conservation Areas in the country together with one of the most attractive and unspoilt seafronts.

Bright & Bright is now one of the oldest established estate agencies in Kent.

In the 1980's Roger sold the business to Mrs Pam Long who used her London expertise and experience in Commercial property to expand the business to include a Lettings Department. Pam sold the business to Brian Thorpe who in recent years developed and expanded it further to become one of the most respected agencies in the Deal area.

In April 2012, the business was taken over by the Colebrook family. Nigel Colebrook has over 50 years’ experience in estate agency and a very full and expansive knowledge of East Kent, its properties and the people who live and work here. Nigel established the agency of Colebrook Sturrock & Co in 1991 which rapidly became one of the most individual and successful agencies in Kent, dealing with many important sales of individual, period and country properties (including The Salutation in Sandwich) with 6 offices and a staff of over 30.

Nigel sold his interest in that business in 2003.

In April 2014 Nigel’s daughter, Becky Lead, joined Bright & Bright and in due course became a director.

The policy of the business is to provide a personal and professional service specialising in the sale of period homes, individual and country properties together with marine residences and cottages throughout the East Kent Area. Whilst building on the firm’s traditions and reputation, an eye is kept on the future as Agency moves forward in the internet age and digital marketing.

However, most importantly, our number one aim is to act in the best interests of the client and not shareholders, corporates and impersonal chains whose sole objective is to meet targets and turnover.

For us it's personal.

Having worked and lived in and around East Kent for most of my life, I have built up a considerable affection for the area together with an intimate knowledge of the people and property. I believe that this part of Kent has some of the largest variety of properties in the country with buildings dating from the Roman era through every century to the present day. It has been a privilege to be involved in the sale of so many of them. I am fortunate to have always enjoyed my work but when not working my interests include music, theatre, travel, golf, swimming and skiing. I have also enjoyed being involved in and organising a number of charitable fund raising events.

Having grown up in East Kent I have a good understanding and knowledge of the area and people. I love the variety everyday in this industry has to offer along with meeting new people and hopefully making a few friends along the way. I am proud of the team and work that we do here and the personal level of service we provide which people genuinely value. Outside of work I enjoy being involved in Charity work through the local Cancer Research UK group, Connecting for a Cure along with being kept busy with 3 children and their social lives!

I’ve worked at Bright & Bright for over 12 years in both Lettings and Sales roles and my role now is Office Manager. Having lived in Deal all my life, I have good knowledge of the area and have built great relationships with many of our clients. During my spare time I like to spend time with my family and friends, I enjoy taking my dog for long walks along the seafront and in the countryside and I like to make the most of the great bars and restaurants I have right on my doorstep in Deal! I also love to travel and still have a few places left to tick off on the bucket list!

Having previously worked for a local corporate letting agent I joined the team at Bright & Bright. I cannot believe the difference between the corporate and independent work environments but also the benefits an independent agency has to offer to both myself and our clients. I moved from Dover to Deal 3 years ago and love living in the town. In my spare time I like exploring Deal and spending time with my family. I also enjoy weekend city breaks and exploring new places.

I have worked in Estate Agency for over 30 years now, exclusively in Deal, joining Bright & Bright some 15 years ago. Working in and around this delightful town with its vast diversity of property types and styles has been a real joy and a constant source of learning.
